Winter Weddings
05th August 2009
It seems that winter weddings have become more popular in recent years. Not sure why, but from my point of view as the photographer thet present different challenges with regards to the lighting etc.
I have two bookings for December this year, Nat and Pete at Lynford Hall, and Jenny and Jeremy at Ravenwood Hotel. Both of these venues are stunning and, in the summer, both have beautiful grounds.
Both of the venues mentioned above, are floodlight at night and I intend to use this lighting coupled with a bit extra from my trusty flashes, to create some dramatic shots.
I think the winter weddings are interesting because it is unlikely that the grounds will have much colour and I think this gives the bride and groom scope to really go to town with the flowers and colour scheme,i.e with the bridesmaids dresses and accessories. I can envisage striking bouquets with sparkly diamante and frosted looks to them, with a splash of vivid red or dark green or metallics, to set them off!
Perhaps winter weddings have become more popular because our seasons seem so muddled up now and, in fact, we don't seem to have seasons, just weather!!!!
I'm really looking forward to shooting these weddings and producing some images that are really different and quite dramatic.
